Passion. Experience. Diligence.

I am a tenured Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at the City University of New York...

Holding faculty appointments in the graduate school of John Jay College of Criminal Justice and LaGuardia Community College. Trained as a criminologist with a specialization in forensic psychology, I received my doctorate degree from John Jay College.

In 2008 I began my Mitigation Specialist and Sentencing Advocate practice. Since then I have served on over fifty state and federal criminal cases and regularly testify in court as an expert witness. Capital cases are my primary focus; however, I have also successfully advocated for people charged with white collar crimes, sex offenses, drug offenses and police as well as correction officer corruption.

Recent victories include a federal death penalty case that concluded with the prosecutor offering a plea of ten years in prison; a capital case in Pennsylvania where a plea of 16 to 32 years was offered due to the evidence I uncovered of a  client’s history of traumatic brain injury; and a white-collar case in the Southern District of New York where my client, who was originally facing more than two decades behind bars, was sentenced to just 18 months.

Thus far of the 28 capital cases I have worked on none have resulted in a death sentence. As those of us in the field like to say, “There is no such thing as no mitigation.”
